Half a Year

My photography style is to capture interaction and candid moments.  I sometimes try and stay away from photographing anyone under a year all on their own. However, for my dear cousin, I made an exception and I am so glad that I did!
Her little guy N is so adorable and we had a lot of fun getting the shots together.  His dad is from Peru and his mom has a strong Dutch heritage, I think the suitcase ones are a forecast of all the great travel that is in his future! I was also able to capture a few candid moments with his grandpa. N was feeling a bit done with getting his picture taken...and grandpa walked in and he calmed down, like magic! It was so sweet to see!

N had a big brother, who was a strong guy in spirit, but was born very early and had many surgeries in his first few months of life. Baby B was a fighter, but at 3 months the Lord called him home. My cousin brought pictures of Baby B and had N take his pictures with them. It was so touching and sweet and such a wonderful idea that she thought of.

Princess and the Pea Storybook Series

Did you ever have a goal, something that may seem a bit out of reach, and then you were able to make it happen and make it happen without a hitch?
Well, I achieved that this week! I had a dream of doing a Princess and the Pea photo shoot. I gathered mattresses, cloth, fabric, quilts, accessories. Set the location and date, and then found some little princesses.  Not going to lie, it was a lot of work...just the set up was  labor intensive! But, I think the images that we got, along with the faces of the little girls when they got to wear the crown, was worth it all.  I am so happy that I pushed this vision and made it a reality.

Secret Garden

I am working on creating a series of portrait sessions titled Storybook.  These sessions are all based on favorite childhood stories.  Today I was able to shoot two sisters in the style of A Secret Garden.  I searched for a wooden rope swing, but couldn't find one in time....maybe for the next one!  These two ladies were such sports, putting up with prickly weeds and really humid temperatures, but I think the pictures are worth all the fuss. Take a peak at....

Would you like some tea?

I was so fortunate to do a four generation photo shoot for these beautiful ladies. We went to an arboretum and I styled a tea party for them.  I hope one day these girls will be able to look back at these pictures and they will know that they came from strong, beautiful women, who love them very much.
